Lady Canons v Lady Dolphins 9pm

All roads lead back to YMCA Court, Wandegeya this Friday, October 3, 2025, as the National Basketball League women’s semifinal best-of-five series resumes with Game Two. Both the JT Lady Jaguars and the UCU Lady Canons will be looking to extend their leads to 2-0 after commanding victories in their opening games.

The Jaguars dominated the Magic Stormers in Game One, cruising to a 63-37 win. Forward Mercy Batamuliza led from the front with a stellar double-double of 17 points and 15 rebounds—10 of them offensive. She was ably supported by Shakira Nanvubya (16 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists) and Brenda Kayaga (11 points).

“We controlled all quarters, improved both defense and offense. Our focus now is on Game Two—we need to win it to make it 2-0,” Batamuliza said, urging her side to sharpen defense and shooting.

The Jaguars set the tone early in Game One with a 10-0 run, leading 20-8 after the first quarter. By halftime, they were 19 points clear, punishing the Stormers’ turnovers (22 in total) and capitalizing with 18 transition points. Despite a brief scare when forward Sarah Ageno went down with a wrist injury, the Jaguars never lost control.

The Stormers, led by Aja Kur (12 points) and Daphine Adong (6), struggled for consistency, scoring only eight points in the third quarter. Their poor shooting and defensive lapses left them chasing shadows in the final stretch.

Meanwhile, in the second semifinal, the UCU Lady Canons made their intentions clear with a 57-46 victory over the JKL Lady Dolphins. Star forward Shillah Lamunu powered the Canons with 18 points and 12 rebounds, dictating play with energy and confidence. Hajara chipped in 10 points, while UCU’s defense stifled the Dolphins’ offense.

“We played strong defense, secured rebounds, and moved the ball well,” Lamunu said after the win.

JKL’s Hope Akello was the only Dolphin in double figures, finishing with 11 points as her side struggled with poor shooting from all areas of the court.

With both UCU and the Jaguars holding 1-0 series leads, Friday’s Game Two promises to be decisive. A second straight win would put either side within touching distance of the finals, while the Stormers and Dolphins must regroup quickly to avoid falling into a 0-2 hole.
