Pressure mounts on SC Villa as they prepare to face Lugazi at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, in a fixture that could shape the direction of their season.
With the title race tightening, the record champions can ill afford to drop points, especially against a Lugazi side growing in belief. Villa’s recent goal avalanche against Mbarara City has reignited confidence, and their Kadiba base has become a difficult hunting ground for visiting teams this term.
Coach Zeljko Kovacevic has watched his side grow in sharpness, particularly in attack, where the understanding between Hassan Mubiru and Frank Ssebuufu has added a cutting edge. Their form will again be central as Villa seek to keep pace with the league’s front-runners.
Lugazi, however, are not travelling as spectators. Buoyed by a morale-boosting victory over BUL, head coach Simon Peter Mugerwa has challenged his players to embrace the occasion and play without hesitation.
“We know Villa’s quality, but this is also an opportunity for us,” Mugerwa noted. “The team is focused and ready to compete. We are not going there to sit back.”
The visitors will miss David Bagoole through injury, but otherwise have a full squad available as they look to test Villa’s impressive home record.
Away from Kadiba, the league offers a packed Saturday programme, with URA hosting Police at Nakivubo, Calvary welcoming Kitara in Yumbe, Maroons taking on Mbarara City in Luzira, and NEC clashing with Express at Lugogo.
