Kampala Queens are on the brink of clinching the 2024/2025 FUFA Women Super League title, needing just a single point from their upcoming fixture to be crowned champions.
The league leaders take on defending champions Kawempe Muslim in a potentially title-deciding clash at Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, on Saturday, May 17.
Currently sitting top of the table with 47 points from 19 games, Kampala Queens hold a commanding nine-point lead over second-placed Kawempe Muslim, who are on 38 points.
Even in the event of a loss, Kampala Queens can still secure the title—thanks to a superior head-to-head record, having thrashed Kawempe 4-1 in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
That emphatic win at Kawempe’s home ground underlined Kampala Queens’ dominance, with forward Shamusa Najjuma netting twice. Ahead of the rematch, she remains confident.

“Kawempe is a strong side, but we’re well prepared,” Najjuma said. “I’d love to score more goals and build on my performance from the first game.”
Despite being within touching distance of the title, the Queens are staying focused. Assistant coach Sharon Kizza stressed the importance of maintaining discipline and consistency.
“We respect Kawempe, they’re second for a reason, but we approach each game with the same mindset: to win,” she said.
Victory on Saturday would not only secure Kampala Queens the league crown but also keep their hopes of an unbeaten season alive, an achievement that would cement their dominance and mark a historic milestone for the club.
