Kataka FC’s fairytale run in the 2025 Stanbic Uganda Cup is turning into one of the tournament’s most compelling stories.
After dispatching URA FC in the round of 16, the FUFA Big League side has now stunned another Uganda Premier League outfit, Police FC, to book a place in the semifinals.

In a tense clash played under the scorching sun at Kavumba Recreation Centre, Kataka held firm through regular and extra time, surviving with ten men after Emmanuel Kulanga’s red card, before triumphing 3-0 in a dramatic penalty shootout.
Their composure from the spot, with clinical finishes from Makas Aka, Muhammed Biafula, and Ali Sentamu, contrasted starkly with Police’s misfortune three successive misses off the crossbar by Kiwalazi, Kacancu, and Ocen.
Now set to face top-tier competition in the semis alongside Vipers SC, KCCA FC, and defending champions Kitara FC.
Kataka FC has already proven they can stand toe-to-toe with the giants. Regardless of what comes next, their giant-killing journey is already a highlight of this year’s Uganda Cup.
