KCCA v Calvary, 8pm
Friday night lights return to MTN Omondi Stadium as KCCA FC look to climb to the summit of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League but only a win over struggling Calvary FC will get them there.
The Kasasiro Boys, unbeaten after four games, have steadily built momentum and now sit third with eight points. Their latest victory a hard-fought 1–0 triumph over Express FC in the Kampala derby gave them belief and rhythm heading into this home tie. Yet, despite their pedigree and form, KCCA have yet to win at Lugogo this season, something they’ll be desperate to change under the floodlights.

Coach Jackson Magera, who continues to command the technical area in the absence of Brian Ssenyondo (away on U17 national team duty), knows the significance of the fixture not just in points, but in statement.
“The derby win showed our character, but that’s behind us now,” Magera remarked. “We must impose ourselves at home and show we can dominate games from start to finish.”
For Calvary FC, the trip to Lugogo represents another stern test in their baptism to top-flight football. The West Nile side remain winless after three matches, collecting just one point in a goalless draw against Maroons. They have struggled to find the net scoring once and conceding five and face the daunting task of stopping a side that has title ambitions.

Complicating matters further, Calvary have been on the road since the start of the campaign, with their home fixtures rescheduled due to Vipers SC’s continental engagements. Fatigue could be a factor against a KCCA side that thrives on tempo and possession.
Team news brings mixed fortunes for the hosts. James Mubezi, Yian Gatbel, and striker Derrick Nsibambi are back in full training and available for selection, adding depth and energy to Magera’s side. However, injuries continue to limit options Peter Magambo (concussion), Joao Gabriel (groin), and Etienne Katenga (fibula fracture) are all ruled out, while teenagers Brian Jjara and Steven Oyirwoth remain with the national U17 squad.
With the title race beginning to take shape, victory tonight could see KCCA leapfrog to the top and send a message to their rivals. For Calvary, it’s a chance to show resilience and spoil the party but against a motivated KCCA in front of their home crowd, it might take something special.
