Kitara FC underlined their knockout pedigree with a composed 2-0 victory over Entebbe UPPC to seal a place in the Round of 16 of the 2026 Stanbic Uganda Cup at Royal Park, Butema.

Rather than a routine win, this was a statement performance from the former champions, who absorbed early pressure before striking with clinical precision. UPPC, backed by their free-scoring forward Ambrose Kigozi, threatened in the opening exchanges and created promising opportunities but failed to convert their dominance into goals.

Kitara punished that wastefulness in the 32nd minute when George Ssenkaaba broke the deadlock, shifting the momentum firmly in favour of the hosts. The Royals returned for the second half with renewed intent, introducing Hussein Ssenoga and Alex Emmanuel Wasswa in tactical adjustments that proved decisive.

With the visitors pushing for an equaliser, Wasswa delivered the killer blow ten minutes from time, calmly finishing to extinguish UPPC’s hopes and send the home crowd into celebration.

Having previously lifted the trophy in the 2023–2024 season, Kitara’s latest triumph keeps their dream of another deep Cup run alive. Victory in this competition guarantees qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup, adding extra weight to every knockout tie.

Interestingly, the two sides will meet again at the same venue next week in a Uganda Premier League fixture, offering UPPC an immediate chance at redemption after their Cup disappointment.
