Kitara FC were left frustrated after being held to a 0-0 draw by Lugazi FC in their Uganda Premier League encounter at Royals Park, Butema.

The hosts, coming off a 2-1 defeat to NEC, dominated possession but failed to break down a resolute Lugazi defense. Kitara’s attacking trio of Patrick Kaddu, Jude Ssemugabi and George Ssenkaaba created several chances, particularly in the second half, but were denied by Lugazi’s defence and goalkeeper Juma Mutebi who made crucial saves to preserve the clean sheet.

Lugazi, who entered the match winless since March, showed improved defensive organization after their recent 2-2 collapse against UPDF.

The result leaves Kitara fifth with 36 points in the standings, while Lugazi moved to 28 points in the 11th position. Kitara coach Wasswa Bbosa lamented his team’s finishing: “We controlled the game but lacked the final touch today. These are points we should have won at home.”

Lugazi assistant coach Gerald Efiti praised his team’s discipline: “After recent defensive lapses, we focused on organization. This clean sheet gives us something to build on.”
