Kitara FC has announced a two-week open trial period in a search for fresh talent, as the Uganda Premier League club prepares for what could be a challenging transition period.

The trials, scheduled to run from July 7 to 21, 2025, will take place daily between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM at the Hoima Boma Grounds. The initiative is aimed at discovering and nurturing new players who can step up to the Royals’ first team, as the club undergoes a critical rebuild.

Targeting footballers aged 18 to 28, Kitara has outlined basic participation requirements: players must present either a national ID or a valid school ID and arrive with a full playing kit. The club clarified that participants will need to cater for their own transport and meals.

In a statement, Kitara FC emphasized the importance of discipline and punctuality, urging all determined players with a passion for football to seize this opportunity.

The trials come at a turbulent time for the Hoima-based club. Following the departure of club president Deo Kasozi earlier this month, Kitara faces the possibility of losing up to 14 senior players whose contracts expired at the end of June. Unless swift negotiations are made, key figures such as Uganda Cranes winger Jude Ssemugabi and dependable goalkeeper Chrispus Kusiima could exit as free agents.

Others reportedly out of contract include Ronald Otti, Titus Ssematimba, Marvin Nyanzi, Benjamin Nyakoojo, Patrick Kaddu, George Ssenkaaba, Kabon Living, Arthur Kiggundu, Moses Sseruyidde, Lazaro Bwambale, Farouk Yawe, and Frank “Zaga” Tumwesigye.

The Uganda Cup holders are now in a race against time to secure their squad depth ahead of the upcoming season, with the open trials seen as a stopgap measure to restock their ranks and unearth potential future stars.
