Kitara v Lugazi

Kitara FC will aim to build on their thrilling 3-2 comeback win over Mbarara City when they host Lugazi FC on Thursday at Royals Park, Butema, in a crucial Uganda Premier League clash.

The Hoima-based side showed remarkable character in their last outing, overturning a deficit with goals from Isaac Amutuhaire, Jimmy Kalema, and Gaddafi Wahab, signaling that they are a team capable of rising to big occasions.

For Lugazi FC, the challenge is equally clear: head coach Steven Bogere insists his side is ready to translate previous draws against league heavyweights KCCA and URA FC into full points.

“We are well prepared, it’s not going to be easy against Kitara,” Bogere said. “We didn’t come here to just play we came to pick points.”

Injury concerns, however, may complicate matters. Derrick Mwanje is sidelined with a joint injury from a friendly against Amus College, while Solomon Okwalinga will be out for a month, joining Fahad Jumbe on the sidelines.

Both sides are neck-and-neck on the league table, with Lugazi in seventh and Kitara in ninth, each holding four points. The game promises to be a tightly contested battle between two teams eager to climb the standings.

Lugazi’s season so far has seen a win over Calvary, a loss to Entebbe UPPC, and back-to-back draws against the league’s top sides — a record Bogere hopes to improve in Hoima.
