The Football Federation of Uganda (FUFA) has announced a fresh squad for the CECAFA U17 AFCON Zonal Qualifiers, the pathway to next year’s U17 Africa Cup of Nations and a potential FIFA U17 World Cup berth.
Uganda’s youth football programme, a cornerstone of FUFA’s strategy since 2013, has steadily produced talent through initiatives such as the Juniors League, coach education, and international exposure. The results are tangible the U17 Cubs are currently in Dubai for advanced preparations after making history by qualifying for the FIFA U17 World Cup 2025 for the first time.
The newly selected players, who have successfully passed MRI tests, will report to the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru to begin camp. The squad is led by Coach Laryea Kingston, supported by former national players Steven Bengo and Sadam Juma, goalkeeping coach Yasin Mugabi, and team manager Joram Katende.
Comprising standout youngsters from clubs across Uganda, the Cubs are focused on making an impact in Ethiopia, where the qualifiers kick off on November 15, 2025, aiming to secure a place in the AFCON U17 finals and continue the nation’s historic run on the global stage.
