Kitara FC will look to reignite themselves when they host Lugazi FC at Royals Park, Butema, in a crucial matchday 24 of Uganda Premier League encounter.

After a narrow 2-1 away defeat to NEC FC, the Royals are eager to return to winning ways and maintain their dominance at home, where they’ve triumphed in seven of their last eight matches.

Head coach Wasswa Bbosa is confident that his team has addressed the lapses that cost them in the previous game and are focused on completing a league double over Lugazi, whom they convincingly beat 3-0 in the reverse fixture thanks to Frank Tumwesigye’s strike and Jude Ssemugabi’s brace.

Lugazi FC, currently 11th on the table, are battling for consistency, having last tasted victory in March against Express FC. Their recent 2-2 draw with UPDF exposed defensive vulnerabilities, but assistant coach Gerald Efiti believes his side is up to the challenge of facing a free-scoring Kitara side. He insists their defensive frailties have been fixed and is optimistic about keeping the hosts at bay.

A win for Kitara will keep pressure on the top spots, while Lugazi are targeting a potential climb to 8th if they can pull off an upset. With both sides hungry for points, a competitive clash is on the cards at Butema.
