Uganda Premier League Today, 4pm
Kitara v URA
At 8pm
SC Villa v Maroons
A wobble at the top has reignited Uganda Premier League’s title race, with Kitara now smelling the chance to close in on table leaders Vipers. The reigning champions’ back-to-back 1-1 draws against BUL and NEC have trimmed their once-comfortable lead to just three points, handing momentum to the chasing pack.

Today, Kitara host a struggling URA side at Royal Park Stadium in Hoima City, knowing that a win would see them level on points with the Venoms—and possibly leapfrog them on head-to-head record.
The side, coached by Wasswa Bossa, have been in impressive form, going six games unbeaten in all competitions following a narrow loss to UPPC Entebbe. Five of those results came in the league, all by tight 1-0 margins, reflecting a team built on defensive solidity and composure. Veteran campaigners such as Murushid Juuko, Patrick Kaddu, and Isa Lumu have provided experience and stability, qualities that have proven decisive in crunch moments. Kaddu, in particular, has been a match-winner, netting the only goal in the reverse fixture against URA earlier this season.
Off the field, Kitara also benefitted from a FUFA Disciplinary Panel decision awarding them three points after Vipers failed to honour an October 2025 fixture, adding another layer to the tight title race.

Meanwhile, URA’s struggles continue to deepen. The Tax Collectors remain without a league win under new coach Hussein Mbalangu, who has overseen three draws and two defeats in five matches. More concerning is their scoring drought, stretching across eight games, leaving them perilously close to relegation with just 14 points from 16 matches. Internal reports of senior players being sidelined have only intensified the turbulence.

Elsewhere in the league, SC Villa look to recover after slipping to fifth following consecutive goalless draws against Lugazi and URA. They host Maroons at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, with the visitors eager to replicate their 1-0 Luzira victory from the reverse fixture and continue their push up the table from ninth place.
With the title race tightening, every point counts—Vipers’ slip-ups have given the chasing teams a golden window, and Kitara are determined to capitalize.
