The Kenyan Premier League serves up a mouth-watering “grudge match” this Sunday afternoon as league leaders Gor Mahia travel to the Dandora Stadium to face their newest nightmare: Nairobi United.
Starting at 4:00 PM (EAT), the clash is more than just a battle for three points. For Gor Mahia, it is a chance to reclaim their honor after Nairobi United—then a lower-league side—shocked the continent by beating them 2-1 in the FKF Cup final back in June. “They Want Revenge, We Want Dominance”

Nairobi United head coach Nicholas Muyoti is under no illusions about the magnitude of the task. Speaking ahead of the match, the former Kenya Harambee Stars captain acknowledged that Gor Mahia are arriving in peak form, having just edged Kakamega Homeboyz 1-0 in midweek.
“We expect a very tough match. Gor Mahia are the league leaders for a reason,” Muyoti told club media. “Both teams are coming off positive results and arriving with confidence. It will be a very tactical and difficult contest, but we have prepared for it.”

Muyoti highlighted that his side has been specifically working on their defensive transitions to stop the K’Ogalo machine.
“Gor Mahia are very effective in transition. We’ve worked on shifting from defense to attack quickly while maintaining our shape. We managed a clean sheet in our last game [a 1-0 win over Sofapaka], and we need to build on that if we are to stop them” he added.
In other matches set for Sunday, Bandari FC hosts Mathare Utd while APS Bomet takes on Tusker in Kericho stadium.

Sounds like a really important game for Gor Mahia, let’s hope they can handle the pressure and come out on top!
