Lugazi FC head to Bombo on Friday with a renewed sense of hope as striker Alfred Leku makes his long-awaited return, injecting much-needed firepower into a side that has struggled to find consistency on the road.

Leku’s comeback ends a three-week spell on the sidelines, his last appearance dating back to the 5–2 win over Buhimba United Saints on November 8. In his absence, Lugazi have looked blunt in attack, firing blanks against Express before falling 3–0 to Maroons a slide that has left them hovering just above the drop zone.

Even with Leku back, the attacking department is not at full strength. Influential forward Saaka Sharif remains sidelined, while winger Fahad Jumbe continues his long recovery following surgery.

Lugazi sit 12th with only two victories to their name, and their visit to the struggling UPDF side presents an ideal opportunity to steady themselves. UPDF, who occupy the last relegation spot with six points, come into the fixture bruised by consecutive defeats to Vipers and SC Villa and are desperate to avoid sinking deeper.

Bombo has not always been kind to Lugazi last season, a solitary strike from Samson Kigozi condemned them to a 1–0 loss on the same ground. This time, with Leku back leading the line, they travel north determined to script a different story and restart a campaign that has drifted off course.
