ZANZIBAR – Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) FC played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Tanzania’s Singida Black Stars on Saturday afternoon at the Amaan Stadium, leaving Group A of the Mapinduzi Cup wide open.
The Tax Collectors looked set to take full control of the group when midfield stalwart Hudu Mulikyi fired them into the lead in the 25th minute.

However, a lapse in concentration during first-half stoppage time allowed Singida’s Idriss Diomande to find the equalizer in the 45+3 minute, ensuring both sides shared the spoils.
Mulikyi Shines in Midfield Battle
Despite the frustration of the draw, the afternoon belonged to Mulikyi. The veteran was a commanding presence throughout the match, breaking up play and providing the clinical finish that gave URA the early advantage.

His performance earned him the Man of the Match award, though he remained focused on the collective goal after the final whistle. “The match has been hard; Singida is a good side,” Mulikyi said during the post-match interview.
“But our focus now shifts immediately. Our next game is Azam, and we are ready for them. We will manage them.” He added.
The Road to the Semifinals
The result leaves Group A on a knife-edge. With one match remaining, the Tax Collectors find themselves in a “win-or-go-home” scenario against Tanzanian giants Azam FC.

The upcoming clash against Azam on Monday will be the final hurdle in the group stages, deciding which two teams progress to the semifinals of the prestigious tournament.
URA will need to sharpen their clinical edge if they are to overcome an Azam side that is always formidable on Zanzibari soil.
