Maroons FC completed a league double over Police FC following a hard-fought 1-0 victory in the Uganda Premier League on Tuesday at the Luzira Prisons Grounds.
Ivan Mayanja scored the lone goal of the game, handing Maroons all three points and extending their dominance over Police this season. The two sides had previously met in the first round at Kavumba Recreation Ground, where Maroons also triumphed with a 2-1 win.
With the victory, Maroons climbed to sixth place on the table with 40 points, level with fifth-placed KCCA FC, who have the edge due to a better head-to-head record. The result keeps Maroons well in contention for a strong top-five finish.
Despite the loss, Police FC remain 12th on the log with 30 points and are mathematically safe from relegation with three matches left in the season.
