Maroon’s Ssenfuma credits troops over Bright Stars’ win

Maroons head coach Mohammed Senfuma has sent lots of praise to his troops for securing their third win of the season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Bright Stars at Kavumba Recreation.

The Prison Wardens registered a 0-1 victory against Bright Star’s who suffered their first loss after the departure of their head coach Joseph Mutyaba this season.

In the post-match press conference, Senfuma revealed that playing as a unit helped them execute the game plan to perfection.

Head coach Mohammad Senfuma praised his players for their performance, highlighting their determination and focus.

“I’m proud of the team’s effort today. Our focus now shifts to the next game at home in Luzira, and we’ll continue to push for better results,” said Senfuma

Speaking after the game, Maroons captain Ronald Orombi emphasized the importance of consistency in the coming matches.

“We aim to be more consistent by getting back-to-back positive results in all games,” said Orombi.

Maroons break dreadlocks from Frederick Kigozi’s 73rd-minute strike proved decisive, elevating the Luzira-based club. Victory brings Maroons’ record this season to three wins, three draws, and three losses, positioning them seventh in the standings.

The match began with drama in the 6th minute as Rogers Kiwanuka thought he had given the visitors an early lead, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside. Bright Stars’ Nelson Senkatuka came close in the 30th minute, but his effort was blocked by Boris Onegi before reaching goalkeeper Simon Tamale.

Maroons midfielder Ivan Asaba shone throughout the match teaming up well with Abel Etrude, controlling the game with his composure, dribbling, and passing. His most notable opportunity came in the peak of first half when his shot was brilliantly saved, leaving the score goalless at halftime.

The second half saw Maroons dominate possession, showing hunger to claim all three points. Their persistence paid off in the 73rd minute when Asaba orchestrated a clever play, delivering a precise pass to Robert Orombi on the wing. Orombi’s cross found Kigozi, who calmly tapped the ball into the back of the net, silencing the home fans.

In the next game at maroons will Host BUL FC on November 29 2024 in Luzira while Wounded Bright star’s will be away in mbale against Mbale Heroes on Thursday 28 November .
