Mbarara City and Entebbe UPPC played out a 1-1 draw in an intense Uganda Premier League clash at Rwamwanja Stadium on Sunday.
The first half saw both teams struggle to find the breakthrough, with Mbarara City largely on the back foot despite some early pressure from UPPC. Mbarara’s defense held strong, though both teams lost key players to injuries—Henry Kitegenyi and Muhammad Kyeyune from Mbarara, and UPPC respectively—resulting in some treatment breaks during the match. The first half ended goalless with Mbarara City managing just one corner to UPPC’s two.
In the second half, the game saw more intensity. Mbarara City made a substitution in the 45th minute, bringing on Sadik Nasulu for Latif Ssenkubuge, while UPPC also made changes to their lineup. The deadlock was finally broken in the 73rd minute when Mbarara’s Muhammad Kanyike scored from a block by Amayo Muhammad of UPPC, giving his side a 1-0 lead. However, the visitors responded just six minutes later in the 79th minute when Ambrose Kigozi , assisted by Hassan Senyonjo, leveled the scores at 1-1.
As the match reached its conclusion, both teams made further substitutions, but neither could manage a winner. The match ended 1-1, with Mbarara City and UPPC both sharing the spoils.
