Mengo SS and Namugoona High School crowned champions of Great Kampala Schools Ludo competitions

The third edition of the Great Kampala Schools Ludo Competitions has come to a close, with Mengo Senior School and Namugoona High School emerging as champions in the boys’ and girls’ categories, respectively. The competition, held at Mengo SS in Kampala over the weekend, saw eight secondary schools participate in a thrilling display of skill and strategy.

Mengo SS Wins Boys’ Category

Mengo Senior School dominated the boys’ category, defeating Royal College Namugongo main campus in the final. Kalungi Jamil Kalule, a student of Mengo SS, was awarded the Best Player of the Tournament for his exceptional skill and dominance in the matches, showcasing four break-and-finish plays.

Namugoona High School Defends Title in Girls’ Category

Namugoona High School successfully defended its title in the girls’ category, defeating Royal College Namugongo Mukono campus in the final. This win marks the school’s second consecutive title in the competition.

Awards and Recognition

The winners in both categories were awarded major trophies, while the runners-up received mini trophies. All participants were given certificates in recognition of their participation. The President of Uganda Ludo Federation and Africa Ludo Federation, who officiated the closing and awarding ceremony, commended the schools for their participation and urged them to continue practicing for future events.

Future Competitions

The Uganda Ludo Federation has announced that the winners will represent the region in the USSSA national ball games II, 2025, to be held from July 10th to 19th, 2025, at St. Peter’s College, Tororo. The President also appealed to schools to prepare for the next season of the Great Kampala Schools Ludo Competitions in 2026 and the Africa Schools’ Ludo Championship in 2026.
