Rider Miguel Katende had an impressive return, finishing second in the MX85cc category during the final round of the Mountain Dew National Motocross Championship held on Sunday at Smart Beach, Mityana.

After a year long hiatus due to a leg injury sustained in the August 2023 championship, Katende at his first time ever in 85cc category graduating from 65cc, made a strong comeback as he finished second to Jerome Mubiru who claimed the category with 450 points
Katende expressed satisfaction with his second-place finish, considering it a solid start after his return to competitive racing.

“At first, I struggled since it was my first time riding on this track. In fact, in the first two heats, I almost gave up, but when we went into the third heat, I gained momentum till the final heat. I believe if the race was still on, I would have beaten Mubiru,” Katende said.
Looking ahead, Katende is focused on improving his performance next year.
“I’m now looking at the East and Central Motocross Championship second round in Mombasa next month as I prepare for next season. I do not want to lose any event to anyone next season,” he added confidently.

Katende’s determination suggests he aims to dominate the 85cc category in the upcoming season.
