The Uganda Badminton Association has this Saturday morning retained Nakamya Annet as the president for a second term spanning 2025 -2028.
Nakamya alongside the entire executive committee were confirmed during the elective Annual General Meeting held at the Kampala Club Litimed in Kampala.
In the same AGM the Uganda Badminton Association admitted new members including CFK Badminton club and Mwesigwa badminton club.
The returning officer of the elections was Collins Ssemanda and the new executive members and Board members were all unopposed.
The Uganda Badminton Association also agreed to come up with proposals aimed at convincing corporate bodies to attract sponsorship so that it can mobilize financial support aiming at developing the sport.
The meeting resolved to improve resource mobilizations and promotion of Uganda Badminton Association development in the lower institutions and grass roots as lamented by UBA chairperson Nakamya.
“I would like to thank you upon entrusting me for second term with the top seat following successful nominations. As the entire board, we are looking forward to working with all of you as we take sports made in Uganda forward.”
“We welcome an open dialogue and we’ll keep the doors of UBA open because we welcome all kinds of ideas and together we will move the sport forward,” Nakamya said.
We must work towards actualization of the dreams because we are athletes all there for the athletes and we need to work in that direction.
Nakamya was first elected as UBA president on January 19th , 2021 when he succeeded the late Shaban Muziransa who was perished in a road accident in October 2020 .
James Kasumba, who observed the Annual General Assembly on behalf of National Council as a requirement for NCS statutory instrument, believes that Uganda Badminton Association can be developed if the association resorts to grassroot development.
The Uganda Badminton Association also unveiled a budget of UGX 1.6billion for the year. The funds will be allocated to several key areas.
