KCCA FC finds themselves at a crossroads in their season, and the upcoming Uganda Cup quarter final against Kaaro Karungi could be a defining moment.

After three straight losses in the Uganda Premier League most recently a 1-0 defeat to URA the Kasasiro Boys’ title hopes have all but faded. Interim coach Jackson Magera now sees the Stanbic Uganda Cup as a potential lifeline to end the campaign with something to show.

“This is an important game for the club, especially at this stage of the season,” Magera said, underlining the pressure and expectation on the team.

Despite missing key players like Katenga, Obenchan, Anaku, and Mubiru, KCCA will be banking on their cup form and depth to see them through. Their 4-0 demolition of Rwenzori Lions in the Round of 16 was a glimpse of what they’re capable of when they click.

However, Kaaro Karungi is no pushover. The Big League outfit has been one of the stories of this year’s Uganda Cup, with an impressive run that includes a shock 3-0 win over Uganda Premier League side UPDF.

With seasoned tactician Richard Makumbi at the helm and a strong home record, they’ll be eager to make another statement at Kyamate Stadium in Ntungamo.

On paper, KCCA are the favorites, but cup football is rarely predictable. The stage is set for a thrilling encounter either a redemption arc for the struggling giants or another giant-slaying chapter in Kaaro Karungi’s fairytale run.
