UCU Canons v Nam Blazers-9pm

Namuwongo Blazers will be looking to close out a perfect first round in the 2025 National Basketball League when they meet the resurgent UCU Canons this evening at YMCA Court in Wandegeya.

Riding high on a 10-game unbeaten run, the Blazers have firmly stamped their authority on the league, most recently dispatching Rezlife Saints 79-60. In that game, Moses Mugisha was in fine form, dropping 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting, with James Okello and Innocent Ochera adding 14 and 13 points respectively.

Their campaign opened with a statement win, a tight 81-80 triumph over reigning champions City Oilers and since then, the Blazers have maintained a relentless pace. Even with the outcome of tonight’s game irrelevant to their position at the top of the standings, they’ll want to maintain their momentum and send another strong message to the rest of the league.

Meanwhile, the UCU Canons appear to have turned a corner. After a sluggish start, the Canons have bounced back with four straight victories to improve to 5-3. The Mukono side will relish this opportunity to measure their progress against the red-hot Blazers and possibly become the first team to hand them a loss this season.
