NEC FC secured a commanding 3-1 victory over Express FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo on Thursday 2025, during matchday 21 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
Paul Mucureezi, Muzamiru Mutyaba and Allan Mugalu were on score sheet for NEC while Conard Ssenjogera scored a consolation for Express.
This win allowed NEC to close the gap on league leaders Vipers SC, bringing them within two points of the top spot. Now NEC has 47 points, two below Vipers who have a game in hand.
Express FC, on the other hand, continued with their struggle for form, suffering back-to-back losses and securing just one win in their last five league outings. They remain in seventh place with 28 points and will need to regroup quickly to improve their standing in the league.
This result marks a significant turn around from their previous encounter earlier in the season, where Express handed NEC their first defeat with a 2-1 win at the Hamz Stadium (Nakivubo).
As the league progresses, NEC’s consistent performance keeps them in strong contention for the title, while Express will need to address their recent form to climb the standings.
