NEC FC picked an important and impressive 1-2 victory over Mbarara City in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Kakyeka Stadium, Mbarara, on Wednesday evening to keep title race hopes.
Goals from danger man Allan Magalu and defender Jacob Akao handed Hussein Mbalangu’s side the all-important three points. Seiri Arigumaho netted the consolation for the hosts.
Magalu put NEC FC ahead in the 54th minute with a powerful fine finish inside the penalty area after racing past Enock Luyima.
In the 84th minutes of the game, Mbarara City talisman Seiri Arigumaho levelled the maters with a brilliant tap-in.
The visitors, NEC FC restored their lead through defender Jacob Okao in the 90+1 minutes of the game to secure back to back return wins following (2-0) over Mbale Heroes and keep title hopes alive.
NEC remains second with 47 points on the table with points, 5 points behind table leaders, Vipers while Mbarara City remains 13th with 23 points from twenty six games.
NEC FC will return to action on Saturday when they host on form BUL FC at the Philip Omondi stadium while Mbarara City will face off Wakiso Giants in the relegation battle encounter at Kabaka Kyabajju stadium.
