NEC continue to turn consistency into an art form, grinding out yet another narrow victory after edging BUL 1-0 at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru on Tuesday.
In a season defined by discipline and control, the Diehards once again leaned on their defensive steel and efficiency in front of goal to collect maximum points. The result extends their remarkable unbeaten league run to 16 matches, with an equally impressive ninth consecutive clean sheet underlining their growing authority.
Their last league defeat dates back to December 12, 2025 against KCCA, and since conceding against Vipers on February 17, NEC have shut out every opponent they’ve faced—building a reputation as one of the toughest sides to break down.
The decisive moment arrived early. Just 14 minutes in, Innocent Media capitalized on a well-worked set piece. A quickly taken corner by Rashid Kawawa caught BUL off guard, allowing Hakim Wandera space to deliver a teasing ball into the box where Media rose unchallenged to nod home.
From there, the script followed a familiar pattern. NEC stayed compact, disciplined, and unyielding, frustrating BUL for the remainder of the match to preserve their slender advantage.
Interestingly, the victory also highlighted a striking trend—NEC’s comfort in doing just enough. Nine of their 12 wins this season have come via identical 1-0 scorelines, showcasing a side that thrives on precision rather than flair.
The win lifts NEC to 47 points, strengthening their hold on fifth place and keeping their push toward the top four alive. BUL, meanwhile, remain eighth on 34 points, with their hopes of climbing higher taking another hit.
