Vipers SC edged traditional rivals KCCA FC 1–0 in a tense Uganda Premier League showdown on Friday night at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, thanks to a first-half strike from playmaker Allan Okello.

The highly anticipated fixture lived up to its billing, drawing a packed crowd under the Kitende floodlights as both sides battled for early control. After a cagey opening 30 minutes marked by midfield duels and stoppages for injuries although with Vipers a better side, the deadlock was broken in the 32nd minute when Okello pounced to slot home what would eventually prove to be the winner.

KCCA struggled to find rhythm, and despite a few promising runs from Herbert Achai and Ashiraf Mugume, they couldn’t find a way past Vipers’ organised backline.
In the second half, the Venoms looked content to manage their slim lead despite KCCA improving on their performance. Vipers introduced Milton Karisa, Chukwuma Odili, and later Moses Waiswa to freshen up the attack. KCCA also made several changes including Alex Yiga and Emmanuel Anyama but their efforts were thwarted by a disciplined Vipers defense and solid goalkeeping.

Referee added three minutes at the end, but KCCA couldn’t find an equalizer as Vipers held firm to claim maximum points and maintain their unbeaten home run.
