After filing in his entry for the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally (POAUR), Kenyan rally driver Hamza Anwar aka Problem Child, has vowed to fight for victory come next month in Mbarara.
The 26-year-old, son to legendary Azar Anwar, a retired five-time Kenyan National Champion is looking forward to making a huge statement in Uganda with a win or an improved finish from that of last year.
“For myself & Adnan it’s our most anticipated event on our calendar to be honest. We have been on the podium before and we aim to improve this year. God willing,” Anwar told Rora media.
“We had the third best time I think last year but just because the car developed some issues during the event. But I assure you, we are preparing as much as we can to attack the Pearl.”

Anwar co-driven by Din Adnan was among the crews to register a DNF in the WRC Kenya Safari Rally which acted as the first round of the African Rally Championship.
“We were ready for Safari but unfortunately, we didn’t finish. All that was put at bay and we are now focused on the Pearl so that we can collect some points in Uganda before we head for other rounds,” he added.
POAUR, will act as the second round of African Rally Championship (ARC) as well as the third Uganda National Rally Championship round. It is slated for three days over May 8th-11th weekend with 11 sections covering a total distance of 486.26 km of which 298.16 km will be liaison as 188.10 km competitive.
