The handball Champions League throw off on Saturday at Old Kampala Arena with Ndejje targeting to oust Police. Police won the trophy last year, and is out to defend it in the women category.

Motivated by the recent victory in Rwanda when they won the East Africa Club championships, the Police coach is convinced he will win it again.

“We know the strength of our opponents and are ready for their challenge. We have fine-tuned our strategies and the women are ready to go,” Coach Yakubu Aziz who also doubles as the national team coach said.

Ndejje University, Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF), Prisons and Makerere University are the men’s teams while Police, Prisons, Victoria University and Ndejje University will face off in the women category.

Attackers Ondoa and Bako helped the club dominate last year’s season by winning the Champions league, Super Cup and East and Central Club Championships in Rwanda.

That gives coach Yakubu confidence that together with new versatile youngsters the team has, they are capable of defending their title.

Patricia Arago, Diana Nakamya, Stella Akongo, Cynthia Akinyi, Jesca Nakamaanya, and Royce Namutosi are the other players Aziz look at to push his side.

The Champions League opens the 2025 handball season top four teams in the men and women league face-off in the tournament that starts at the semi-final stage.
