The Federation of Motorsports clubs of Uganda (FMU) in conjunction with Central Motorsport Club (CMC) will pay tribute to the late Rajiv Ruparelia, during the upcoming Gulu rally, scheduled for October 9-12.
Ruparelia who died in a road accident four months ago, was the CMC patron as well as a rally driver. His life and passion for rallying will be celebrated in the event that marks the penultimate round of the National Rally Championship.

During the event launch at Somewhere Else bar in Naguru, the FMU Secretary General Renolds Kibira said that besides being a driver, Rajiv was an investor with many projects which led to the sport development, and the legacy he left will be remembered.
“This will be a historic race, all riders in the country are expected to participate and as the FMU along with the Central Motor Club, we have many other plans, to ensure that Rajiv remains in the history of the sport,” said Kibira.

The Clerk of the Course, Enock Olinga, said that unlike other races that have been held on Saturday and Sunday, this one will be held on Friday (October 10) and end the following day (Saturday).

“On Friday the drivers will compete in three stages namely; Noblakes (15.01km), Wobbly (27.42km), and the super special stage named after Rajiv Ruparelia (1.96km). In the next day they will do five stages; Noblakes (15.01km), Rajiv Ruparelia (18.05km), Pink Panther (13.26km), David Ochaya and KCB Bank (12.12km) and again Rajiv Ruparelia as the Power stage.
Ronald Ssebuguzi leads the NRC with 241 points, followed by Ponsiano Lwakataka (235).
