BUL FC has turned to a familiar face as they set their sights on greater success in the coming seasons. The Eastern Giants have welcomed back goalkeeper Tom Ikara, whose two-year deal brings him full circle to a club where he once established himself as a fan favorite.
Ikara, now 27, returns to Jinja after an eventful spell in Ethiopia with Sidama Buna, where he helped the side lift the national cup. His journey abroad not only sharpened his skills but also reinforced his reputation as a big-game performer.
For BUL FC, this homecoming is more than just a signing. It is a statement of intent. Ikara was a central figure during the club’s memorable 2023–24 campaign, guiding them to a second-place finish that remains one of their best seasons. His leadership, resilience, and commanding presence between the posts left a lasting impression both in the dressing room and among the fans.

Now back at Kyabazinga Stadium, Ikara speaks of unfinished business.
“BUL has always been family to me,” he said with conviction. “When I left, I promised myself I would return and help push this team higher. I want us to compete for trophies, and I know with the fans’ support, we can achieve that.”
Head coach Abbey is equally optimistic, describing Ikara as the kind of goalkeeper who raises standards within a squad. “He’s aggressive, talented, and has that winning mentality. His return gives us the assurance we need as we prepare for tough battles ahead.”
Ikara’s signing signals a bold chapter for BUL FC—one built on continuity, ambition, and the belief that sometimes, the best reinforcements are those who already know what it means to wear the badge.
