Kitara reignited their fading title ambitions with a composed and clinical display, brushing aside SC Villa 2-0 at Royals Park in Butema on Thursday.

With both sides locked on points before kickoff, the contest carried the weight of a potential title swing—but it was Kitara who seized the moment early and never let go.

Their intent was clear from the first whistle, pressing with urgency and purpose against a Villa side that struggled to match their intensity.

The breakthrough arrived midway through the first half when Patrick Kaddu capitalized on sustained pressure to put the hosts in front. Just as Villa attempted to regroup, Yunus Sibira struck a decisive second on the stroke of halftime, leaving the visitors with a mountain to climb.

Villa showed glimpses of a response after the break, but Kitara’s defensive discipline ensured there would be no way back. The Royals remained compact and controlled, closing out the game with authority.

The result lifts Kitara to second place on 54 points, trimming the gap to leaders Vipers—who were held to a 1-1 draw by KCCA—to five points with four matches remaining.

Attention now shifts to a demanding run-in for Kitara, with fixtures against NEC, Express, BUL, and Police set to determine whether this resurgence can translate into a genuine late push for the crown.
