SC Villa will be seeking both redemption and revenge when they welcome Mbale Heroes to Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku today, Thursday in a must win Uganda Premier League fixture.
The reigning champions are still smarting from a narrow 1-0 loss in the reverse fixture in Mbale, a match in which they dominated for large spells but were undone by a late strike.
That defeat marked the beginning of Villa’s away struggles, with the Jogoos managing just one road victory since (against relegation-threatened Soltilo Bright Stars).
However, home has been a fortress for Villa this season. Prior to their recent loss to Maroons, they had maintained an unbeaten record at Wankulukuku, and they’ll be eager to reassert their dominance in front of their fans.
Mbale Heroes, on the other hand, have found life tough on their return to top-flight football, accumulating just ten points and hovering near the foot of the table. Facing the defending champions away from home presents another steep challenge.
Villa will look to key attackers Patrick Kakande and Charles Lwanga to deliver the goals after squandering several clear chances in the defeat to BUL. A convincing win would not only keep their title hopes alive but also settle a score from earlier in the season.
