Matia Lule is optimistic about a winning start to his tenure as interim head coach of Police FC. They face Mbarara City at Kavumba Recreation Ground on today, Thursday.

Lule, formerly in charge of KCCA, Proline, and Express, was appointed last week following the sacking of Simon Peter Mugerwa. His immediate task is to steer the Cops clear of relegation danger.

“The players have responded well in training and I believe they will replicate that,” stated Lule.

Police and Mbarara City are currently level on 23 points just five above the drop zone, making this clash crucial for both sides’ survival hopes.

Although Mbarara are winless in their last six games, history offers them a lifeline. In 11 previous meetings, the Ankole Lions have claimed six victories, lost just twice, and drawn three times against Police FC.
