It was a bad day in office for the Victoria Sharks as they lost their first game at home 13-20 to Jinja Hippos at Kyadondo Rugby ground on Saturday January 18,2023.

The Sharks took a 13-8 half time lead courtesy of a try, a conversion and two penalties by Israel Makoha.

In the second half, the Jinja based side regrouped and mounted pressure scoring a try by David Wako, and conversion by Yasin Waswa and a try by Aynan Bagalana to seal a 20-13 win.

Sharks coach Kevin Makamot said that they are going back on the drawing board and will return strong since the premiership has just started.

“We could win this game but the players relaxed. We are going to address the areas of concern and wait for our next game,” Makmot said.

His counterpart coach Edmond Mucunguzi said winning the game was a good motivation to the boys and they will count on that to improve.

“Our games in Kampala have always been tough ones, but I am glad we won today and we are going back to polish on our weak areas as we prepare for the home derby against Walukuba,” Mucunguzi said.
