The battle for promotion in the Buganda Regional League 2025/26 reached a fever pitch this past weekend as Match Day 14 delivered a series of high-stakes results that have completely reshaped the top of the table. From dominant home victories to crucial away points, the “Ssezibwa” and “Katonga” groups continue to prove why this is one of Uganda’s most competitive football divisions.

The biggest story of the weekend was Simba FC’s clinical 3-0 demolition of Buwambo United FC at the Namulonge-Gayaza grounds. This statement victory catapulted Simba FC to the summit of the league with 36 points from 15 games.
By taking maximum points off their direct rivals, Simba has firmly established themselves as the team to beat for the promotional playoffs.
Drama in the Top Four
While Simba soared, others stumbled. Masaka City SC secured a vital 1-0 victory over Young Simba FC in a tightly contested derby at Nyendo-Masaka. This result kept Masaka City in the hunt at 4th place with 29 points, while Young Simba remains in the mix at 3rd with 31 points.

Meanwhile, Buwambo United, despite their heavy loss to the leaders, remain in 2nd place with 32 points, though their lead over the chasing pack has narrowed significantly.
The highest-scoring affair of the weekend took place at Kyetume Lwetamu, where Nyendo FC hammered a struggling Super Eagles Lugongwe side 6-1. The victory provided a massive boost to Nyendo’s goal difference and moved them comfortably into the middle of the pack.
Other notable results included Nantabulirwa FC’s 3-1 win over Kiboga United and Kajjansi United’s 2-0 shutout of Manywangwa FC.
