Tanzania re-entry confirms an all East African Community ARC affair

It is now confirmed that the 2025 African Rally Championship (ARC) will be an East African Community affair after the late re-entry of Tanzania.

The first calendar released last year, December by the world’s motorsports governing body, FIA (The International Automobile Federation) showed only Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, and Rwanda entitled to host an ARC round this season.

Tanzania’s motorsports governing body, the Automobile Association of Tanzania (AAT) confirmed yesterday that they have regained a ticket to host a round of the African Rally Championship (ARC) in September this year after FIA approval.

“We are delighted to inform the motorsports family and all Tanzanians that ARC will be staged here in 2025 after a fruitful meeting with FIA,” notified Satinder Birdi, the chairman Tanzania Motorsports Commission.

The confirmation that Tanzania had regained a round of ARC was unveiled during the AAT Motorsports General Meeting held in Dar es Salaam over the weekend. Tanzanian event will be the fourth round of ARC and it’s slated for September 20th and 21st in Morogoro on.

Kenya will host the first round on March 22nd and 23rd while Uganda’s Pearl of Africa Rally, will be the second round on May 10th and 11th as Burundi on August 16th and 17th takes on the third.

After the penultimate round in Tanzania in September, Rwanda’s Mountain Gorilla Rally will close the ARC season on October 25th and 26th this year.

AAT also released the calendar of the National Rally Championship (NRC) for 2025 whose opener is Mkwawa Rally of Iringa organised by Iringa Motorsports Club on May 24th and 25th.
