TP Mazembe, Asfar FC Ladies storm the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League final after defeating EDO Queens and Egyptian side Masar respectively.
EDO Queens had a good run, but they were halted by the champions of DR Congo. Nigeria’s solitary representatives at the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League crashed out of the competition after a painful 3-1 extra-time loss to TP Mazembe in the semifinal yesterday, November 19th 2024.

They were drawn in Group B of the competition alongside Masar Women (Egypt), Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), and CBE Women (Ethiopia). Despite being in a difficult group, the Nigerian side held their own comfortably defeating CBE (3-0) in their first game, played out a goalless draw against Masar, and defeated Mamelodi Sundowns (3-1) in their final group game.
TP Mazembe’s Flora Marta won the Woman of the Match award again after her back-to-back brilliance.

On other semi final clash. Asfar FC defeated FC Masar home to Ugandan duo Shadia Nankya and Aisha Nantongo (2-1) in hard fought drama game. FC Masar got a penalty in stoppage time. Goal keeper Khadija Er-Rmichi made her second penalty save of the match which VAR called for a retake. This was all in the 90’+5 minutes of game and the retake was scored to make it 1-1 and just after one minute, Asfar FC’s El Madani scored a freekick to lead her team to their second CAF Champions league finals.
FC Asfar’s goal keeper, Khadija Er-rmichi won the Woman of the Match for her unbelievable semi final performance saving penalties in the match.
Increased Prize Money
This year’s CAF Women’s Champions League boasts a 52% increase in prize money to USD 2,350,000, reflecting CAF’s commitment to developing women’s football in Africa.

Runners-up: USD 400,000
3rd place: USD 350,000
4th place: USD 300,000
3rd in Group: USD 200,000 each
4th in Group: USD 150,000 each
