UCU Canons return to action tonight at Lugogo Indoor Arena with their sights set on a season sweep of Rezlife Saints in the National Basketball League.

The Mukono-based side dominated their first encounter in April, cruising to a 64-42 victory. Since then, the Canons have remained consistent contenders, their confidence boosted further by a dramatic 63-62 win over Victoria Crocs last week.

That game was decided by Marvin Jesse Okurut’s ice-cold three-pointer in the final seconds, a clutch moment that epitomized UCU’s resilience under pressure. Jimmy Otim and Zachariah Ekirapa also starred, chipping in 16 and 11 points respectively, while Joel Kayiira and Alier Perch cleaned the glass with a combined 29 rebounds.

With a 9-5 record, UCU are steadily climbing the playoff ladder and will be eager to keep that momentum rolling against a Rezlife side in crisis.

The Saints have stumbled in recent weeks, dropping three straight games to Sommet, Nam Blazers, and JT Jaguars. Their last taste of victory came against KIU Titans in an emphatic 84-59 triumph — a result that now seems like a blip in an otherwise rocky campaign.

Now sitting at 5-7, Rezlife finds itself teetering on the edge of playoff contention. Tonight’s clash offers them a chance at redemption, but facing a surging UCU squad, it’s a mountain they’ll have to climb with everything they’ve got.

With both teams desperate — one to secure playoff stability and the other to stay in the race — expect a high-intensity showdown under the Lugogo lights.
