The Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) has concluded a two-day High Performance workshop at Hotel Africana, bringing together over 30 key stakeholders to advance talent identification, mass participation pathways, and high-performance culture in Ugandan cricket. The workshop was led by Edward Khoza, Cricket South Africa’s High Performance Manager.

The workshop focused on developing inclusive talent programs, hub programs, and strategic planning for Ugandan cricket. Khoza emphasized the importance of collaboration and action in achieving performance goals, saying, “Performance comes from action.” Richard Okia, UCA Head of High Performance & Pathways, added that interaction, structure, and reporting lines are crucial for moving forward with pathways and ensuring a fully operational High Performance structure.
The workshop united national team coaches, backroom staff, UCA secretariat office workers, and board members, who all hailed the event as a “game-changer” for cricket in Uganda. UCA Hon. Secretary Denis Musali noted that it was time for the association to be intentional in its approach to high performance.

The workshop marks a pivotal step in shaping the future of cricket in Uganda, creating a unified approach to high performance across all levels. The UCA is committed to developing a strong and sustainable cricket ecosystem, and this workshop is a significant step towards achieving that goal.
The workshop was attended by prominent figures in Ugandan cricket, including Deus Muhumuza, Brian Masaba, Grace Mutyagaba, and UCA board members. The event was a success, and the UCA is expected to build on the momentum generated to take Ugandan cricket to the next level.
