Uganda to host 2025 Africa Seniors Squash Championships

Uganda will host the 2025 Squash Federation of Africa Seniors Championships following confirmation from the Squash Federation of Africa and the Uganda Squash Rackets Association.

After electrifying close of the Africa Open Squash Championship 2024 in Namibia were the Uganda Squash National Ladies team secures bronze in the championships.

Uganda squash Rackets association organized media meet up with team Uganda contingent in Kampala on Friday evening were Gerenal Secretary Natambi Shifah reveled that Uganda will host the 19th edition of the Africa Squash championship.

Uganda Squash Racket Association General secretary Shifah Nantambi said: “This is a great day for Squash in Uganda and across Africa. We will do best for Africa and my thanks to [Uganda Squash Association President] and her team for winning the hosting bid for next year’s championships, I know that Uganda will host an excellent event.”

“It’s another great step for Squash in Africa to be hosting regular first-rate competitions like the Africa Squash Championship. And with the coaching course and AGM running alongside the event, I’m confident that next year’s championships will provide long-lasting benefits to our sport.”

Nantambi added; “We are delighted to officially confirm that Kampala, Uganda Will be the host city for the highly anticipated championships.”

“This event promises to be a thrilling celebration of squash, bringing together top talent from across the continent [and the AGM and coaching course] is a fantastic opportunity for coaches to enhance their skills and for participants to engage in meaningful discussions about the future of squash in Africa.”

“We look forward to welcoming you to Pearl of Africa for what promises to be an unforgettable event.”

The continental competition, will see Africa’s top squash players compete in individual and team events.

The last edition of the Squash Federation of Africa Seniors Championships, formerly known as the All Africa Seniors Championship, took place this year in Namibia and 2023 was in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, 2022 the championship was held in Egypt.

Next year’s Squash Federation of Africa Seniors Championships will see an investment into grassroots squash, too with Kampala set to host a World Squash Coaching Level 1 Course during the championships, as well as the Squash Federation of Africa AGM.

The officials who travelled with the team are Mr Isa Bbale (the Vice president of the Uganda Squash Rackets Association) and the General secretary Shifah Nantambi and the trip was full sponsored by National council of sports.
