Uganda Premier League Today, 4pm Entebbe UPPC v Vipers
After weeks of delay first due to their opposition to the league’s phased format and later because of their short-lived CAF Champions League campaign the Venoms now turn their full attention to domestic matters, eager to begin their title defence on a strong note.
Yet, this opener is more than just a routine fixture it’s a meeting packed with familiarity and subplots. Nearly the entire Entebbe UPPC technical team boasts a deep connection to Vipers. Head coach Abdallah Mubiru and his assistant Livingstone Mbabazi both previously held key roles at Kitende, while coaches Edward Ssali and Godfrey Walusimbi were part of the old Bunamwaya setup before it rebranded to Vipers. Even players like Isa Bugembe, Fazil Tumwine, and Isa Mubiru once donned the Venoms’ colours.

The Entebbe-based outfit comes into the clash on the back of an encouraging run — two wins over Lugazi and NEC, plus a valuable draw away to SC Villa — following their early defeat in the season opener.
For Vipers, however, the stakes are high. Belgian tactician Jacky Minnaert is already under scrutiny after the club’s failure to reach the CAF Champions League group stages, and anything short of victory could amplify pressure on his tenure.
With rivals already gathering momentum, Vipers will look to their key players, Allan Okello, Yunus Sentamu, Milton Karisa among others.
