Vipers stretched their lead on the Uganda Premier League (UPL) log with a 2-0 victory over their rivals KCCA FC at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
In a closely competitive encounter, on form attacking midfielder Allan Okello’s and hitman Yunusu Ssetamu strikes in the first half, gave the visitors their 12th victory of the 2024/25 Uganda Premier League campaign.
Vipers have now stretched their lead at the table with a 3 point difference between them and second placed NEC FC.
The result also means that Vipers have won their fifth consecutive win of the Uganda Premier League following wins at Mbale Heroes FC 4-0, UPDF FC 1-0 , Maroons FC 1-0 and URA 2-0.
The venoms have won twelve games and drawn four games since 15th September 2024 when they suffered their first loss of the season against NEC FC ( 3-1) at MTN Omondi Stadium.
The former kibuli SS student, Okello scored his 13 goal of the season and he is Uganda Premier League leading top scorers followed by URA’s Ivan Ahimbisibwe on nine goals.
Vipers leads the table with 40 points after 17 matches while KCCA FC dropped to Seventh position with 24 points from 17 matches.
KCCA FC will visit Maroons FC on Sunday 2nd march 2025 at the Luzira maximum prison Ground while Vipers will host Mbarara City on Sunday 2nd at the St Mary’s Kitende.
