Reduced to ten men during the game after Shaibu Mtita’s send off, Wakiso Giants failed to hold off a determined Mbarara side, with Peter Onzima scoring the decisive goal. The result gave Mbarara City, who recently parted ways with head coach Livingstone Mbabazi, a crucial boost in their own battle for survival.

Wakiso now sit third from bottom with 20 points, six adrift of 13th-placed Mbarara City. With only three games left in the season, their survival chances are slim. To avoid the drop, Wakiso must win all their remaining matches and hope Mbarara lose at least two of theirs.
