Express FC earned sweet revenge over Kitara FC with a narrow 1-0 victory in the Uganda Premier League on Tuesday evening at the Hamz stadium, Nakivubo.

The Red Eagles, who were thrashed 7-0 by Kitara in the first round in Hoima, a match clouded by match-fixing allegations, finally had their say.
Although FUFA president Moses Magogo had vowed to investigate that controversial result, no official report has ever been made public.
This time, it was Rashid Kawawa who made the difference, scoring in the 60th minute after a well-worked move involving Saidi Kyeyune and Herbert Achai.

The victory extends Express FC’s unbeaten run to five games, showing signs of stability despite enduring a season marred by financial struggles and off-field challenges. During this positive streak, they’ve also registered wins over Bright Stars and Mbale Heroes (both 1-0), and earned 2all draws against UPDF and Vipers respectively.
For Kitara, however, the slump deepens. They are now winless in six consecutive matches across all competitions. Their recent form includes goalless draws against Wakiso Giants, SC Villa, and Lugazi, as well as losses to NEC (2-1) and Vipers (1-0) in the Uganda Cup semi-final first leg at St Mary’s stadium in Kitende.

With the result, Express moved up to seventh on the log with 39 points, leapfrogging Kitara, who now sit eighth with 38. Vipers SC lead the standings with 62 points and a game in hand.
