For many players, transfers and short stints at different clubs are part of the football journey. But for Frank Tumwesigye “Zaga,” Kitara FC is more than just another team on his CV — it is home.

The attacking midfielder has committed his future to the Royals by signing a fresh two-year contract, extending his stay in Hoima as the club continues to rise among Uganda’s football elites.

Since joining Kitara in 2023, Zaga has been instrumental in the club’s rapid progress. His creativity and vision in midfield played a huge role in Kitara’s fairy-tale run to their first-ever Stanbic Uganda Cup triumph last season, where they edged NEC FC 1–0 in a pulsating final at Wankulukuku.

Speaking after penning his new deal, Zaga was beaming with pride. “Kitara is home. By staying here, I’m not just a player but part of a family. We’ve already achieved a lot, and I’m excited for what’s to come,” he said.

The club leadership also expressed delight at retaining their midfield gem. CEO Joshua Atugonza described the renewal as a win for both player and club. “Zaga is our homeboy. It was important that we keep him here as we build towards greater success,” Atugonza said.

Before his move to Hoima, Zaga showcased his talent at Vipers SC and Police FC in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League. But it is at Kitara where he seems to have found his true identity — a player not only chasing trophies, but also embodying the spirit of a team that refuses to stop dreaming.

As Kitara FC prepares for another ambitious campaign, fans will be watching closely to see how their “homegrown hero” continues to shape the club’s journey.
