The race for the Buganda Regional League title has taken yet another dramatic turn following an action-packed Matchday 27 on Sunday, 17th May, 2026.

With the season hurtling toward its climax, the battle at both ends of the table is reaching a boiling point, leaving fans on the edge of their seats.

RoraMedia gets you a comprehensive breakdown of the weekend’s action and how it impacts the latest standings as of 18th May, 2026

Simba FC laid down a massive marker in the title race with a commanding 3-0 victory over Wobulenzi United FC at the Katikamu Vete grounds.

The clinical performance catapulted them back to the top of the table on 58 points, ahead of rivals Buwambo United FC on goal difference.

Buwambo United FC ensured they stayed level on points with the leaders after edging Kira United FC in a five-goal thriller at the Buwambo Ground. Buwambo’s narrow 3-2 victory keeps their promotional playoff dreams alive and sets up a grandstand finish for the final weeks of the season.

Meanwhile, Masaka City SC kept themselves within touching distance of the top two, securing a hard-fought 1-0 away victory against Uganda Sports Arena FC at the Ntenjeru Ssaza Ground in Kayunga.

Masaka City now sit third with 54 points, keeping the pressure firmly on the leaders.

At the Bombo Military Barracks Grounds, fourth-placed Young Simba FC played out an entertaining 2-2 draw against Synergy FC.

The result did little to help Synergy’s survival hopes, leaving them hovering just above the drop zone in 12th place with 29 points.

In the relegation dogfight, Kiboga United SC gave their survival hopes a major lifeline with a crucial 2-0 victory over Kajjansi United FC at the Ssaza Ground in Kiboga.

Despite the win, Kiboga remains in the relegation zone (14th place) with 23 points, tied with Manyangwa FC, who played out a stalemated 0-0 draw against Nyendo Football Club at Uganda Martyrs SS – Ssonde.

Elsewhere, bottom-placed Buikwe Red Stars FC managed to hold Nantabulirwa FC to a 0-0 draw at the Buikwe Ground, but they remain deeply mired in trouble with just 10 points from 26 games.

The hunt for the top scorer award is proving to be just as competitive as the league title itself.

Derrick Taremwa (Young Simba FC) and Muhammad Meddie Kasule (Masaka City SC) remain deadlocked at the top of the goal-scoring charts, with both forward maestros sitting on an impressive 24 goals.

Simba FC’s Sam Ssemugugu is keeping them within sight in third place with 17 goals, while William Kinene of Wobulenzi United FC follows with 14.
