Vipers SC have officially entered the market for a new head coach after confirming the departure of Ivan Minnaert at the end of his contract.
The Kitende-based club announced that the Belgian tactician and the club had agreed to part ways, bringing an end to a tenure that delivered one of the most successful league campaigns in the club’s history.
Minnaert leaves after guiding Vipers to their eighth Uganda Premier League title, with the Venoms completing the season unbeaten on the field. His impressive work also earned him the Coach of the Season accolade at the StarTimes Uganda Premier League awards.
While the results placed Vipers firmly at the summit of Ugandan football, the coach’s future had remained uncertain since the conclusion of the campaign. Discussions about a possible exit intensified in recent weeks, with the club eventually confirming that Minnaert would not continue in charge.
His departure comes at a critical moment for the league champions, who are preparing for another demanding campaign on both the domestic and continental fronts.
Vipers are determined to make a deeper impact in the CAF Champions League after narrowly missing out on the group stages last season. The club also has the CECAFA Kagame Cup on the horizon, making the appointment of a new coach one of its immediate priorities.
Minnaert’s time at Vipers will be remembered for delivering silverware and restoring consistency to the team. Under his leadership, the Venoms established themselves as the dominant force in the league and maintained a remarkable level of performance throughout the season.
Attention now turns to the club’s next move as management seeks a successor capable of building on that success and leading Vipers through another ambitious chapter.
The coming weeks are expected to be crucial as the club finalises preparations for the new season and identifies the coach tasked with maintaining Vipers’ status as one of the region’s leading football sides.
