Blacks Power FC have signaled their intent to return to Uganda’s football elite by appointing Michael Lukyamuzi as head coach ahead of the new FUFA Big League season.
The Lira-based side, relegated from the top flight in 2023, are banking on Lukyamuzi’s proven track record of promotion success to inspire a swift comeback. He is best remembered for guiding NEC FC into the Uganda Premier League, and now carries the weight of expectation to replicate that achievement in northern Uganda.

Club officials describe the appointment as part of a broader rebuild, with fresh player signings and a renewed technical direction. “Our target is clear—restoration. Lukyamuzi’s expertise and hunger to win align with our ambition to compete at the very top again,” a source close to the club’s leadership noted.
Armed with CAF B, UEFA C, and ICA coaching licenses, Lukyamuzi arrives not only with credentials but also with momentum, having enhanced his reputation as one of the country’s tacticians capable of delivering results under pressure.

Already, Blacks Power have bolstered their squad with new arrivals including Ronald Ogenga Owiny and Rashid Yakin, moves that suggest the club is preparing for a season where anything less than promotion would be deemed a failure.
For the fans in Lira, Lukyamuzi’s arrival represents hope—a chance to dream again of Big League dominance and a return to the Uganda Premier League spotlight.
