Women’s football in Uganda is set for another exciting chapter as the 2025/26 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Elite League kicks off this weekend, bringing fresh energy, new teams, and greater competition to the second division of the women’s game.
Unlike previous seasons, this campaign will feature 16 teams, up from 14, reflecting the steady growth of women’s football across the country. All participating clubs have successfully met FUFA’s stringent club licensing standards, a sign of the league’s improving professionalism and structure.
FUFA has organized the competition into two geographically based groups—Victoria and Elizabeth—each containing eight teams. This structure is designed to reduce travel expenses while enhancing regional rivalries and fan engagement.
The Victoria Group features Ateker WFC, Gold Star Ladies FC, Pabo United WFC, UCU Lady Cardinals FC, Highway Ladies FC, Lira City Queens FC, Jinja United WFC, and Jinja City Queens FC.
The Elizabeth Group includes Tooro Queens FC, Boni Consilli WFC, Buhimba Lady Saints FC, She Kasese Soccer Club, PISGBC Queens FC, Wakiso Hill WFC, URA Ladies FC, and UPDF WFC.

Only the top team from each group after the round-robin stage will earn promotion to the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League, making every point crucial.
Action begins this Saturday, October 18, with two opening fixtures: UPDF Women FC host PISGBC Queens FC at Bombo Barracks Grounds, while Pabo United WFC entertain Jinja United WFC at Gulu High School Playground.
The excitement continues on Sunday with five matches spread across the country, including standout fixtures such as UCU Lady Cardinals FC’s visit to Gold Star Ladies FC in Amus, and She Kasese Soccer Club welcoming URA Ladies FC at Nyakasanga Primary School Grounds.
With new entrants, stronger teams, and rising young stars ready to make their mark, the 2025/26 Elite League promises not just goals and glory—but a celebration of how far Ugandan women’s football has come.
